More than a Factory
Footwear is in our heritage. We are a four-generation company with more than 90 years of experience.
In 2011, we launched a new division born from a simple but powerful conviction: break the status quo. We were tired of “business as usual” and driven to create differentiated, high-impact products, even before we fully knew how to make them possible.
That drive has shaped our evolution into a global operation focused on high-value, technical footwear for U.S. and Canadian brands.
Our guiding principles
Built on creativity, technology and sustainability.

Creativity
We imagine better ways to make footwear, innovating, refining, and solving real challenges for the brands we partner with.

Technology
Automation, digital traceability, and standardized workflows that deliver repeatability, operational efficiency, and scalable manufacturing.

Sustainability
By integrating sustainable practices, certified suppliers, and strong social-responsibility standards, we ensure responsible, ethical manufacturing with long-term positive impact.

A journey of industrial transformation
With four generations of heritage behind us, everything changed in 2011 when we decided to challenge the traditional manufacturing model. Tired of doing things the same way as everyone else, we set out to build differentiated, high-impact footwear through deeper processes and true technical rigor.
Today, that vision has matured into a global, engineering-focused operation — integrating automation, precision processes, and nearshoring capabilities to provide U.S. and Canadian brands with flexible, dependable, scalable manufacturing.

The Old-School Shoemakers 1933 — 2011
Footwear in our veins.
Not in our mindset.
Abucombal’s story begins decades before its formal founding. Originally established as an industrial safety footwear operation, our roots are built on generations of shoemaking knowledge passed down through family heritage. Footwear was never just a business it was a craft learned on the factory floor.
But while the know-how was inherited, the mindset was not.
2011 — Origin
From tradition to formalization.
Abucombal is founded in León, Guanajuato, as a leather-cutting operation rooted in four generations of shoemaking expertise. From the start, the focus is clear: challenge the traditional footwear manufacturing model in Mexico through discipline, craftsmanship, and process control.
2015 — First Niche Project
A turning point toward specialization.
Our first technical footwear program marks a turning point. This project introduces a new way of thinking: manufacturing driven by specific performance needs, engineered processes, and real end-user requirements—not generic production capacity.
2018 — Automation Begins
From traditional factory to technical operation.
Abucombal integrates its first Orisol automated stitching system, initiating a more standardized and scalable production model. Key manufacturing processes—productivity, consistency, and quality control—are formalized, strengthening our position as a reliable supplier for international footwear brands.
2019–2021 — Global Reinvention
The world shifted. Our vision expanded.
Pandemic disruptions expose the fragility of Asia-dependent manufacturing. Abucombal expands into specialized footwear niches and evolves into a full-service OEM/ODM partner, combining product development, engineering, and high-impact manufacturing for global customers.
2022 — Global Expansion
Mexico rises. Abucombal enters the global map.
Leveraging Mexico’s strategic position and the USMCA framework, Abucombal launches international operations and completes its first export to Canada. Our commercial strategy evolves toward long-term partnerships built on agility, transparency, and supply chain resilience.
2024 — Nearshoring Acceleration
Nearshoring Acceleration
Abucombal becomes the first Mexican footwear manufacturer to exhibit at The Materials Show. In parallel, we integrate an automated cutting facility, significantly improving efficiency, material optimization, and production consistency across high-value footwear categories.
2025 — Industry 4.0 Transformation
The first step toward a fully integrated 4.0 ecosystem.
We initiate our Industry 4.0 transition with Mexico’s first 4.0-capable conveyor line and an advanced rail-based production flow. A new ERP system synchronizes operations end-to-end, enabling real-time traceability, ecosystem integration, and scalable decision-making.
Reimagining footwear manufacturing
We redefined what a factory can be, transforming traditional processes into a technical, high-performance ecosystem. Automation, research, engineering, and material mastery now fuel specialized creations across safety, outdoor, foodservice, performance, and premium categories.
Our strengths include:
Expertise in resistant leathers, waterproof materials, reinforcements, and technical constructions.
Flexibility to develop footwear for multiple risks: slip resistance, impact, puncture, traction and tactical applications.
Nearshoring-driven speed, shorter timelines and rapid replenishment cycles for U.S. and Canadian brands.

Technology meets craftsmanship
Cutting-edge automation blends with specialized manual processes to create a balanced, scalable, and precise manufacturing operation.
Automated cutting & digital marking for higher material efficiency, consistency, and traceability.
Automated stitching (Orisol) for homogeneous, high-strength seams across complex uppers.
Anzani multiplex-contact 4.0 footwear assembly and finishing system enabling synchronized flow, dynamic balancing, and improved ergonomics.
Acumatica ERP, a world-class platform integrating every stage of the operation with real-time data, traceability, planning, and quality control.
